A man being pursued by U.S Marshals is hospitalized after stabbing himself. State Trooper Quintin Mehr says it all began Wednesday morning when marshals looking for a fugitive approached the man at a Tucson Red Roof Inn at 4940 West Ina Road, causing the man to run off. Mehr says he continued running across both sides of Interstate 10.
After jumping the median and running onto westbound ten, Mehr says, the suspect was almost hit by a tractor-trailer before pulling out a pocketknife and stabbing himself in the neck. The westbound side had to be shut down to clear traffic so paramedics could treat the wound and transport him to Banner University Medical Center.
Mehr says, as it turned out, this was not the wanted man after all, but someone who apparently resembled the fugitive. But he’s still in trouble with the law because he was caught with illegal drugs. Mehr says, the 25 year old Tucson man will be arrested for that once he’s released from the hospital.
