A mother and her three small children survive a wrong-way crash off Loop 101 in Phoenix.  Spokesman Bart Graves with the Department of Public Safety says they received multiple 9-1-1 calls about a Jeep driving the wrong way on the 101.  A short time later, DPS received another call about a crash.  The Jeep

slammed head-on into a mother driving a mini van carrying her small children, ages four, six and a one-month-old infant. Graves credits the mother for saving the lives of her children by making sure they were all buckled up properly.  The four-year-old experienced severe injuries, but has been upgraded to stable.  The six-year-old had a head injury and the baby is under observation.  All children, including the mother are expected to survive. The father was following the mother and watched the horrific scene unfold before him.  He jumped into action and helped the children before paramedics arrived.  The wrong-way driver was transported to the hospital in extremely critical condition.  Impairment is believed as a possible factor in the crash.
