A Bullhead City woman allegedly left her two young daughters in a locked vehicle while she drank inside a bar. A concerned citizen called police about 7:00 p.m. Tuesday after spotting the 18-month and five-year-old girls in a vehicle that was left running with the keys in the ignition at a bar parking lot in the 2000 block of Commercial Way.
“According to officers at the scene, the vehicle had overheated, the air conditioning system was blowing hot air and the children were sweating,” said police spokeswoman Emily Fromelt. “The mother of the children was located inside the bar.”
Fromelt said 31-year-old Jessie Colwell had been in the establishment for about 30 minutes and that she smelled of a strong alcohol odor. She was arrested and booked into jail for two child abuse related counts.
State officials took custody of the children.
