Monsoon season is quickly approaching and officially begins June 15th and runs through September 30th. Storms generally peak between mid-July and mid-August bringing high winds, high temperatures and high moisture resulting in potentially deadly weather conditions.

Surprisingly more deaths occur each year due to flooding than from any other thunderstorm-related hazard. Firefighters and other first responders generally have to be called to rescue motorists stuck in washes before the unexpected deep runoff covers their vehicles.

The Bullhead City Fire Department would like to remind citizens if your vehicle is suddenly caught in rising water, leave it immediately if you safely can and seek higher ground. As little as ten inches of water can float an average size car, minivan, SUV or truck. Do not attempt to cross flowing streams of water.
