chickensA portion of the March 15th Kingman City Council meeting was for the birds. Council members were asked to select one of two ordinances regulating poultry on residential property.

Option A would allow one chicken per 1,000 square feet of residential property. Option B would prohibit chickens from residential lots less than 20,000 square feet in size.
Gerald Olsen and Judy Lent urged adoption of the less restrictive ordinance so that Mohave County Four H kids in Kingman can enjoy learning experiences through raising chickens. Lent also noted that urban agriculture is increasingly popular and that many like to raise chickens for their eggs.
By a 3-2 vote, the Council approved Option A.
