A former Fort Mohave resident who killed a woman in an act of “motel rage” will spend more than two decades in the California Department of Corrections. Michael Bitney, 57, was given a 22 year prison term last month.

Bitney pled guilty to grossly negligent vehicular manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident involving injury.

Prosecutor Kevin Davenport said Bitney became enraged by noise emanating from an adjacent room at a Fort Bragg, California motel in October, 2014. Bitney deliberately drove his pickup truck into the room, striking a woman who was holding a seven month old baby.

The baby was injured and the woman was killed.
