Firefighters were challenged by gusting winds as they battled an April 28 fire about five miles north of the Kingman City limits. Personnel from Kingman and Golden Valley assisted with the fire along Route 66 in the Northern Arizona Consolidated Fire District.
Battalion Chief Tim King said the fire began about 5:00 p.m. in a garage before winds pushed the flames to two nearby homes. He said the garage and one of the homes was destroyed while the other home was heavily damaged.
King said no one was injured but that multiple parties and some pets were displaced. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
