A knife-wielding suspect who jumped from a bedroom closet to attack a Phoenix police officer has been shot dead.  Officer James Holmes says cops showed up at an apartment complex looking for a murder suspect.  Officers entered the home and made their way to the bedroom where the door was closed.  One officer

entered the bedroom when the suspect leaped from the closet with a knife and slashed the officer.  The officer shot the suspect dead in self-defense.  The 35-year-old officer who is a 14-year veteran with the Force was transported to the hospital to get stitched up after the suspect sliced his hand open.  The 38-year-old suspect was wanted for shooting and killing his friend earlier that night during an argument.  Officers continue to investigate what lead up to the shooting.
