The July 6 governing board meeting of the Northern Arizona Consolidated Fire Distict (NACFD) was conducted in rather orderly fashion, and without some of the rancor that has punctuated its preceding governing board sessions.

By unanimous vote, the Board adopted a new budget at just under $3.1-million. Interim Fire Chief Wayne Eder said the spending plan includes a two percent raise for district employess as well as a commitment to staff and open fire station #33.

The current secondary property tax levy of $3.00 will be increased to $3.12 per $100 of assessed property valuation.

The board again took no action with respect to hiring a new fulltime fire chief. Eder remains an applicant for possible promotion and a hiring decision could come at the board’s July 20 meeting.
