Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Derek M Matysek, 28, of Las Vegas, NV, early Monday (3/16) morning for possession of narcotic drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia, felonies. Approximately3:00 a.m., deputies responded to a suspicious subject outside of a convenience store located in the 18000 block of Highway 93. Dispatch advised that the reporting party said a male subject driving a white Chevrolet truck was driving erratically through the parking lot and brandishing a knife at customers. Upon arrival, deputies pulled behind the described truck with their patrol unit. Deputies approached the vehicle and observed a male subject sitting in the driver’s seat holding a folded knife with its blade extended. Deputies contacted the male subject later identified as Matysek. Matysek laid the knife down. Matysek advised that he had the knife open because he was sleeping in the parking lot and he moved his truck a couple times to get out of the peoples way. Deputies questioned Matysek about having anything illegal on him. Eventually, Matysek said that he has some heroin in his pocket. A search of Matysek revealed a plastic bag containing a black sticky substance. Matysek was taken into custody without incident. He was transported and booked into the Mohave County Jail.
