embezzlementNEEDLES-An animal control volunteer with the city of Needles was arrested on Tuesday by police for allegedly stealing money from the shelter.

Cindy Bumpus, 52, of Mohave Valley, was allegedly caught on shelter surveillance cameras stealing money out of the cash register drawer, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office.

Bumpus was identified as the suspect and arrested by police and charged with embezzlement.

She was taken to the jail in Needles and later released on her own recognizance. Bumpus is scheduled to appear in a Victorville courtroom in the next couple of months.

It was not released the amount Bumpus allegedly stole from the shelter.
