A woman who formerly owned and operated an adult assisted living facility in Lake Havasu City has been convicted of four counts of the abuse of a vulnerable adult. Crystal LaPlante, 46, was found guilty April 26 at the end of a bench trial conducted by Mohave County Superior Court Judge Steve Conn.

Prosecutor Michael Crocker said an investigation began in 2014 when employees who worked for LaPlante at the now-defunct House on the Riviera engaged in whistle-blowing. Crocker said they told state officials about patients receiving substandard hygiene and feeding care.

LaPlante could get as little as probation and as much as a six year prison term. Sentencing is scheduled May 26.
