The new traffic signal at the intersection of Kiowa South and Palo Verde South in front of Lake Havasu High School will placed into normal operation at 6:00 AM, Friday, August 1, 2014, just in time for school to begin the following week. Motorists are urged to exercise extreme caution around this and all school zones as students return to school over the next several weeks. Commuters travelling through the intersection should be aware that the new traffic signal is programmed to stop all traffic while pedestrians cross in all directions. Drivers are advised they may need to adjust their commute time accordingly. Maintenance Staff will be in the areas, monitoring the traffic and pedestrian flow as well as the operations of the signal. The Police Department will be monitoring traffic flow and enforcing speed limits in the area of the traffic signal as well as the nearby School Safety Zone (School Crosswalk at Telesis). Motorists traveling through the area between now and Friday may notice the traffic signal in timed operations for short periods for testing and are still advised to use caution as paint striping and sign work will be proceeding throughout the week. As always, use caution when traveling through construction zones and be especially careful around school areas. Questions can be directed to the Maintenance Services Division, Operations Department for Lake Havasu City at 928.855.3377.
