Mohave County issued a news release Tuesday afternon regarding the death of an elected official.
“It is with heavy hearts that the Mohave County Board of Supervisors announce the passing of longtime Mohave County Assessor Ron Nicholson,” the news release said. “Ron was a committed public servant who began his career with Mohave County in October 1993, was appointed to the position of Chief Deputy in May 1997 and was subsequently elected Mohave County Assessor, taking office in January 2005.”
The news release said nothing about where or when Nicholson died. County officials, however, over the holiday weekend, said that Nicholson had been dealing with undisclosed health issues in recent weeks and died Sunday in Henderson, Nevada.
“Mohave County will miss the extensive and historical knowledge that Ron possessed in appraising property, establishing property values as well as his legislative efforts to improve state imposed statutory regulations,” said Board Chairman Jean Bishop. “Please keep Ron and his family in your thoughts and prayers.”
Chief Deputy Ken Fielder will administer the assessors office. Prospective candidates for the Assessors race include a trio of republicans; Nancy Esquibel of Kingman, Jeanne Kentch of Lake Havasu City and Steve Robinson of Golden Valley.
