There was no public discussion of the highlight item at the July 20 meeting of the Northern Arizona Consolidated Fire District governing board (nacfd). Though it was likely addressed during a 30-minute executive session, the selection process and hiring of a fire chief was not addressed during the public portion of the meeting and the matter was tabled until next month.

There was discussion of some insurance coverage complexities and direction to interim Chief Wayne Eder to work through them. The concern involves bridging a possible gap in liability coverage as the district transitions from one carrier to another.

Eder also gave a presentation showing that the district needs more water tenders to increase carrying capacity in the interest of public safety, as well as district insurance ratings that trickle toward impact on homeowner policies.
