Slain Phoenix Police Officer David Glasser has been laid to rest.  Thousands of mourners gathered today at Christ’s Church of the Valley to honor the hero who lost his life in the line of duty last week.  On the night before her beloved and brave husband was laid to rest, Glasser’s wife Kristin wrote an open letter to the public thanking them for their thoughts and prayers.

“From the moment I received the devastating news about my husband, I have been given an unbelievable amount of genuine love and support from so many people.  I want to take a moment to express my sincerest gratitude to all who have prayed for my family this past week. I know that the strength I need, can only come from God.

My kids and I lost our most favorite person.  David was an incredible husband and father, and the pain we are feeling is indescribable.  However, the love and support we’ve received eases a little of that pain – so thank you.

My thoughts and prayers are also with all of the other law enforcement families, as I know during these times it brings back the fear and realities of the job they courageously go into each day.

I also want everyone to know how much I appreciate the support from the Phoenix Police Department, the medical staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital, the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association (PLEA), The 100 Club, and a host of private organizations and entities, the public safety officers and the entire community that have wrapped their arms around my family.  The support has been overwhelming in the best possible way.

Thank you for your encouragement and all you have done to honor David.”

Sincerely,
Kristen Glasser

Countless officers held back tears lined the church to pay their respects. CDR Sean Connolly with the Phoenix Police Department praised Kristin’s unprecedented strength and vowed unwavering support, care and comfort for life.   Officer James Byrd says Glasser knew the dangers and took the responsibility to heart in the face of danger once saying, “If not me than who?” He also said, “Love turns fear into courage.”  Glasser’s best friend Jason Pool shared some fun stories about Dave that made everyone laugh through the tears.
