The Bullhead City police department is conducting an independent investigation of an office-involved fatal shooting in north Kingman. Spokeswoman Emily Fromelt said a traffic stop was conducted at 12:05 a.m. in the 3500 block of Gordon Avenue.
The driver, Kenneth Jack Kennedy, 34, reportedly tried to leave the scene of the stop, according to Fromelt. She said he struck two law enforcement vehicles and was driving toward a deputy who opened fire.
Fromelt said Kennedy was dead at the scene and that his wife, a passenger, was not injured.
The unidentified deputy, an eight year veteran of the sheriff’s office, was placed on paid administrative leave while the shooting is under review.
