Even an officer’s funeral day didn’t spare Phoenix Police from another getting into officer-involved shooting. It happened before 7:30 Thursday morning as police were looking for a suspect who allegedly shot an associate to death in the

area of 35th Avenue and Southern. Phoenix Police Sergeant Jon Howard says the man took off running, and when officers caught up to him, he was shot once after pulling out a handgun.

Howard says the suspect is in serious condition at the hospital. Howard says police investigators attending Officer Dave Glasser’s funeral had to leave the service in order to tend to the situation. No officers were hurt in the confrontation, but in light of Glasser’s fatal shooting last week, Howard says, “it takes an emotional toll on you. I hope more peaceful days are ahead.”
