A shooter is on the loose after trying to take out a cop.  Officer James Holmes with Phoenix police says a motorcycle cop was attempting to make a traffic stop off Interstate-17 when someone inside the car opened fire on the officer.  The shooter fired at least one round and fled the area.  The officer was not hit or injured.

Officers searched for the car and found it had crashed against a retention wall off I-17.  The suspects bailed from the car and are on the run.  After running plates and registration, it turns out the car was stolen.  Detectives are taking fingerprints from the car to see if there is a match.  However, police have little to go on.  Anyone with information is asked to call police or Silent Witness.
