An orphaned mountain lion kitten has been rescued near Sells, southwest of Tucson.  The kitten is about five to six months old and only 13 pounds.  Amy Burnett with Arizona Game and Fish says it’s believed the young lion’s mother died leaving two baby lions to fend for themselves.  The young lion’s sister was

found deceased and the rescued lion is skin and bones barely hanging on.  Typically, a lion that is about six months old is usually 30 pounds.  Burnett says the cub received care and food and the next 48 hours are key to her survival. She is being held at the Adobe Mountain Wildlife Center while she recovers.
