Bullhead City has approved an ordinance amendment eliminating an alcohol ban in municipal parks. Jim Zaborsky is one of two residents who spoke against the move.
“I think to put in an ordinance allowing alcohol in parks is a bad idea and I think a lot of people think the same thing,” Zaborsky told council members at their April 5 meeting.
Mayor Tom Brady noted that other parks all around Bullhead City allow some form of alcohol consumption. He said he favored the amendment allowing beer consumption subject to certain restrictions.
“I don’t like making criminals out of normal, ordinary and responsible people who drink responsibly,” Brady said. “If anything gets out of hand we have a police chief here who says he can take care of the problem.”
The Council sided with Brady in approving the amendment.
