Phoenix Police cornering a fugitive say they had to shoot a suspect who threatened officers Tuesday afternoon. Sergeant Vince Lewis says officers from the Fugitive Apprehension Unit went to a house at 36th Avenue near Mc Dowell looking for a guy with outstanding felony warrants.
Lewis says officers contained the house and made contact with the suspect through a window, commanding him to show his hands. Instead, Lewis says, the suspect pulled out a gun and pointed it at officers, forcing police to shoot him.
Officers entering the home cleared the place and pronounced the fugitive dead at the scene. No officers were hurt in the confrontation. Lewis says at least one warrant against the fugitive was for drugs.
