The city of Phoenix anxiously counts down the hours to a possible bus strike, beginning at midnight. For now, Valley Metro bus company is still in last-minute negotiations with the union to try to  reach  a new deal for drivers. Matthew Heil with the city transportation department says that, if a strike occurs, about 62% of Valley Metro’s service area will be impacted.

The drivers’ collective bargaining agreement ran out in June, and the extension is only good until 11:59 Wednesday night.
