The Arizona Department of Corrections (ADC) released pictures Monday that depict some of the criminal damage resulting from disturbances and rioting at the state prison in Golden Valley. The images are from the Hualapai Unit where a riot unfolded last Thursday night into Friday morning.
ADC officials said there is no early estimate of the value of the damage resulting from three disturbances that stretched over four days. Governor Doug Ducey and other state agency directors toured the destruction Sunday.
Mohave County Supervisor Gary Watson is calling for the state to end its business relationship with MTC, the Utah-based company that operates the prison under contract. Watson said MTC has failed miserably and that it’s time to transition the prison to the operation of the state.
