Pima County health officials are trapping mosquitoes in the area around Davis-Monthan Air Force Base after a service member stationed there returned from the Caribbean infected with the Zika virus. Health Department Director Francisco Garcia says that other earlier cases in the county prompted them to begin monitoring the mosquitoes months earlier than usual.

Garcia says no mosquitoes have tested positive for Zika and he doubts the virus will be detected locally. Garcia asks everyone to limit their potential exposure to all mosquito-borne illness by wear long sleeved shirts and pants and using a DEET based mosquito repellent.
