A Mohave County Superior Court judge has rejected the sentencing limitations and a plea agreement for a Bullhead City man responsible for the brutal beating of his former girlfriend in May, 2016.
Judge Billy Sipe told attorneys during a July 20 hearing that the nine year prison term specified in the deal was too lenient given the beat-down inflicted by 53-year-old Jeffrey Swick.
“This is a savage beating. It is clear to me that this was a beating and a torture that occurred over a long period of time,” Sipe said. He said the victim was left bruised and battered from head to toe in the near deadly assault.
Swick is charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault and his case will be assigned to another judge, following plea rejection by Judge Sipe.
