On October 18, 2015, at approximately 3:23 p.m., Lake Havasu City Police Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call from a female stating that someone had been stabbed at a residence in the 2000 Block of Moyo Drive. The caller did not provide any further information and the call was disconnected.
Upon arrival to the scene, officers discovered that the 34-year-old victim, a Lake Havasu City resident, had been stabbed multiple times during an altercation with another man and was in need of medical attention. Officers found that the victim had been stabbed by a male subject that fled the scene with another unknown male and female companion. The victim was able to barricade himself inside an apartment until police arrived. Officers located a silver Ford Focus parked near the entrance to the apartment complex that is believed to be associated with the male that stabbed the victim.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Bureau responded to the scene to conduct the investigation. During the investigation, 30-year old David Day was identified as being involved in an altercation with the victim. Day arrived at the Moyo Drive address and an altercation ensued with the victim after Day allegedly took money from the victim. Day and the other male and female quickly fled the scene before officers arrived.
Day is considered a suspect in the case and detectives are actively seeking to locate him.
The victim was transported to the Havasu Regional Medical Center where he underwent treatment for several stab wounds. The victim was listed in stable condition at the hospital.
The investigation by detectives is on-going and additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
