AQ David Schwartz Aquarius Casino Resort is proud to continue its tradition of supporting local education by hosting David Schwartz, author of popular children’s math and science books, during his stay in the tri-state area.   Schwartz spoke with students at six local area schools from January 8 through January 15, 2015, as well as held authoring conferences for older children. “Being here in a semi-rural area, a lot of our students don’t have a lot of opportunities to interact with a real author,” said Diamondback Elementary School Principal Martin Muecke. “Having the schools get together and bring a big name author such as David Schwartz out here, provided a great experience with the kids. He was excellent with the students; positive, interactive, and they had a lot of fun.”  Aquarius Casino Resort generously provided Schwartz one of its award-winning rooms during the duration of his visit, as well as several meals during his stay. “We are happy to provide the support needed to bring this wonderful author into local classrooms,” said Aquarius Casino Resort General Manager Sean Hammond. “We know David Schwartz’s visit will have a big impact on our local students’ education.” Many times math and science can be a challenge for young students, but Schwartz uses whimsical ways to make math and science come alive for both kids and teachers.  An accomplished storyteller, he presents confusing mathematical information in entertaining ways to grab and hold students’ attention. “Young children really love math. I travel all over the world and I speak to schools about math and books and how they go together,” said author David Schwartz. “I like to make teaching math fun and concrete and real.” Schwartz’s more than 50 published books include How Much is a Million?, If You Made a Million, Where in the Wild?, Rotten Pumpkin and Supergrandpa. “David Schwartz was an entertaining presenter. Through his books and stories of his childhood, he introduced students to math and science vocabulary and concepts in concrete ways they will remember, said Jennifer Lott, Principal at Sunrise Elementary School in Bullhead City. “The students greatly enjoyed David Schwartz’s visit. We thank the Aquarius for helping us provide this experience for our students.” Schwartz spoke at the following tri-state area schools:

•    Monday, January 12 – Coyote Canyon Elementary School
•    Tuesday, January 13 – Diamondback Elementary School
