As the Timberfoot fire continues raging in Yarnell, the Prescott National Forest is putting its foot down on fire activity. Fire Information Officer Adrianne Ragan says, expect the first restrictions to go into place by mid next week. Which means no campfires except in designated or fully cleared
areas, no outdoor smoking unless it’s in the car or shooting in the forest. But Ragan is quick to add that propane use is O.K.
Regan says, during this time of year when weather conditions turn hot and dry and there’s an abundance of foliage, it’s a disaster waiting to happen without implementing the stage one restrictions.
The fire restrictions are expected to be in place until the forest gets enough rain to lessen fire risk. This week, the Tonto National Forest determined an abandoned campfire led to the now controlled Reservoir fire.
