One Lake Havasu City held responsible for the death of another has entered a plea agreement that will resolve a criminal case short of trial. Nicholas Hasson, 23, pled guilty Friday, October 7 to manslaughter, drunk driving and unlawful use of means of transportation.
Prosecutor Jacob Cote said Hasson did not have permission to be driving his brother’s vehicle before he crashed the car just before 6:00 a.m. on January 19. Cote said Hasson was intoxicated and speeding at 80 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour zone when the vehicle ran a red light and broadsided another at the intersection of S. Palo Verde and N. Acoma Boulevard.
The driver of the second vehicle, Joseph Morgan, 62, Lake Havasu City, was dead at the scene of the crash.
Hasson faces a 3-10 year prison term when sentenced November 4 by Mohave County Superior Court Judge Steve Conn.
