A sellout crowd, a close game, some spectacular plays, while the weather was close to perfect added up to rave reviews Sunday night as Arizona hosted the NFL Pro Bowl game for the first time. It was the first big event of the week leading up to next Sunday’s Super Bowl game featuring the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots.
Sunday night at University of Phoenix Stadium, Team Irvin (captained by NFL Hall of Famer Michael Irvin) beat Team Carter (captained by former Minnesota Vikings great Chris Carter), 32-28. Arizona Cardinals President Michael Bidwill, who lobbied to bring the Pro Bowl to Arizona, declared the event a massive success. “Arizona’s really shined today. When you talk about which team won…it was really Arizona (that) won”. The defending Super Bowl champion Seahawks arrived in the Phoenix area earlier in the day, with some team members turning up on the sidelines during Sunday night’s game. The New England Patriots arrive Monday afternoon, though their arrival time was pushed back due to the big snowstorm back east.
