Keep that umbrella handy as a batch of storms rolls into Arizona. Meteorologist Hector Vasquez with the National Weather Service says the first one arrives with a sprinkle Tuesday followed by one Wednesday , bringing rain amounts similar to the one last weekend, which brought a fraction of an inch of precipitation.
Vasquez says Wednesday brings the best chance of a storm but don’t expect anything torrential.Vasquez says things should clear out by Thursday but another system could bring more rain by Saturday. Highs will be in the 60’s, if not perhaps in the upper ‘50’s for the week.
Vasquez says the winter rains are the result of a moderate El Nino but the Weather Service is keeping an eye on the Pacific Ocean near Hawaii for any “convection” activity, which, if kindled, could bring more intense storms for the season.
