A Banning, California man has been acquitted of the alleged rape of a Lake Havasu City woman. A Mohave County Superior Court Jury deliberated for about an hour on July 12, before finding Gabriel Thomson not guilty of four counts of sexual assault and one count of unlawful imprisonment.
Police and prosecutor Amy Milton said that the 20-year-old Thomson forced a 39-year-old woman to have sex with him after they drove to a popular off-road recreation area in the vicinity of Paseo De Oro Drive. Defense attorney Robin Puchek said Thomson testified that any sexual activity that occurred was consensual.
This was the sixth sex crime trial acquittal for Puchek this year.
