An alleged child killer awaiting trial has been denied his request to pay his last respects to his ailing mother. Mohave County Superior Court Judge Lee Jantzen has rejected a defense motion to allow Justin Rector to visit his mother who was reportedly on life support at a Las Vegas hospital.
Judge Jantzen has also allowed Mohave County Legal Defender Ron Gilleo to withdraw from the case due to a newly discovered conflict. Gerald Gavin remains chief legal counsel for Rector while the county looks for a new second chair defense lawyer.
Rector, 27, faces a possible death sentence if convicted in the September, 2014 asphyxiation murder of Bela Grogan-Cannella.
