Firefighters battled a first alarm fire at a Chandler recycling plant early Saturday.  Battalion Chief Val Gale with Chandler Fire says the fire was knocked out without incident but dense smoke blanketed the neighborhood which forced residents to remain indoors.  Chandler police used reverse 9-1-1 to call residents within a half

mile radius of the fire to remain inside until the smoke dissipates.  The smoke was gone within a few hours.  The recycling plant sorts trash from the blue recycle bins that contain plastics and paper.  The cause of the fire is unknown.
