A fight over rent leads one man to shoot his former roommate.  Lieutenant Scott Smith with Tempe Police says Robert Tate has been arrested for shooting his former roommate after the two argued over a rent check that was cashed.  Smith says in the middle of the argument, Tate walked into his house to get a handgun.

When the victim saw the gun, he started running and Tate fired a shot into the victim’s leg.  The victim attempted to drive himself to the hospital but was unable to make it and called 9-1-1 for help.  The victim was transported to a local hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.  Tate has been charged with aggravated assault with a firearm and disorderly conduct with a firearm.
