A plea agreement resolves misdemeanor charges filed against a woman who formerly operated the RUFF animal shelter in Golden Valley. Hillarie Allison, 60, has relocated to Roseville, California and her case was completed by attorneys in Justice Court on Tuesday, March 7.

Allison is convicted of three counts of cruelty to animals. Court records and prosecutor James Schoppmann indicated the charges involved Allison’s neglect of three of her pet dogs.

An effort involving many individuals, organizations and authorities resulted in placement of some 200 dogs and cats that were in limbo when Mohave County essentially ordered closure of the shelter last December.

Allison must reimburse the Western Arizona Humane Society $3,000 to offset expenses associated with the massive placement campaign. Allison will be on probation for nine years.
