Phoenix police have arrested a Russian National for the murder of his ex-girlfriend. Sergeant Trent Crump with Phoenix police says a 22-year-old woman was found brutally murdered by her roommate in their kitchen surrounded by shell casings laying next to a gun. According to witnesses, a
man was seen speeding away from the home in a new Ford Mustang shortly after shots were fired. Investigators learned the victim had served an order of protection against her ex-boyfriend, 26-year-old Igor Zubko almost two weeks earlier. Zubko had sent the victim a text message threatening to kill her after receiving the notice to stay away from her.
Zubko then rented a car in Ontario, California a few days ago and drove to a Motel 6 in Phoenix where he plotted his revenge. Zubko bought the gun in a private internet sale and then made his move. He used an old house key to enter his ex-girlfriend’s home that he never returned to her and shot the woman. During the investigation, it was discovered Zubko bought a one-way ticket to San Francisco and investigators arrested him at Sky Harbor International Airport late Saturday. During an interview, Zubko allegedly confessed to killing the woman by accident. Zubko is facing a slew of charges including burglary, kidnapping and first degree murder.
