Soccer teams from both Mohave and River Valley High Schools have advanced to state championship quarterfinals and will play Saturday (February 6) afternoon at 2:00 pm. Both teams will have home field advantages.
The games are the second round of the Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) Championship.
The top-seeded River Valley High School Lady Dust Devils will take on the Valley Christian High School Eagles of Chandler in a Division IV girls’ soccer contest in Mohave Valley. The Lady Dust Devils come into the game with an 11-1 record; Valley Christian is number eight-seeded.
At the same time, the number three-seeded Mohave High School Thunderbirds will host the sixth-seeded Cortez Colts of Phoenix in a Division III boys’ soccer game in Bullhead City. The Thunderbirds have a 10-2 record.
The winner of Saturday’s girls’ quarterfinals game will face the winner of the match between the fifth-seeded Youngker High School Roughriders of Buckeye and fourth-seeded Eagles of Anthem Preparatory Academy. That semifinals game is scheduled for Tuesday night at a location to be determined.
And the winner of Saturday’s boys’ game will advance to the semifinals against either the tenth-seeded Coronado High School Dons of Scottsdale or the second-seeded Flowing Wells High School Caballeros of Tucson. The boys’ semifinals will be Wednesday night at an as-yet undetermined location.
Ticket prices are $8 for adults, $5 for students with school ID, and free for children five and under. Prices are set by the AIA.
