The Bullhead City Police Department now offers an “E-Commerce Zone” as a safe location for citizens to conduct private business transactions.
Two parking spaces marked with E-Commerce signs in the Police Department parking lot, 1255 Marina Boulevard, are now under 24 hour video surveillance. The zone is to help reduce victimization, prevent illegal transactions, and provide a place where people can feel safe to meet a stranger to finalize their online /advertisement transactions.
“If a buyer or seller declines meeting you in a police parking lot that is under 24 hour video surveillance, that should be a red flag to not do business with that person,” said Police Chief Brian Williamson. “Also be very suspicious of a person who changes the agreed upon location. Trust your instincts. If it sounds like a scam, it probably is.”
Chief Williamson also suggests you conduct business during daylight hours.
Law enforcement will not be involved in verification, monitoring or facilitating private transactions. The E-Commerce Zone is simply a location that provides a safer environment for the exchange of merchandise between private parties.
