Presidential candidate and former Secretary of State Hilary Clinton was grilled for eleven hours before a Select Congressional Committee on her role in the deaths of four Americans killed in Benghazi, including Ambassador Chris Stevens.  Valley Republican Matt Salmon says the hearing showed Hillary

“Clinton lied to the American public” on what led to the attack of an American Embassy in Benghazi.  Salmon says “there were some significant questions that were asked that weren’t clearly answered.”  However, the smoking gun showed up in the emails.  While President Obama and Clinton told the nation four Americans were killed following the release of an anti-Muslim video that led to a deadly uprising outside the embassy, emails written by Secretary Clinton the day after the attack show a different story.  She told the Prime Minister of Egypt it was preplanned attack by al-Qaeda.  Salmon says this hearing is well worth the money and the effort because it’s about “four patriots who died and getting some answers and getting the truth. I think America deserves that.”  Phoenix Democrat Ruben Gallego calls the hearing a farce and says “it’s a partisan witch hunt.”

Clinton’s testimony may be over, but it’s not the end of the investigation.  Salmon says more witnesses will be called to put out a full report.  Meanwhile, the hearing did uncover that Ambassador Stevens sent over 600 requests for additional security to the Secretary of State’s office in the weeks leading up to his murder.  Clinton says she never received those requests.   Republican Congressman Trey Gowdy is heading the Select Committee and hopes to get to the bottom of this tragedy that killed four Americans on the anniversary of 9-11 three years ago.
