The Salvation Army hydration stations are out in full force, and not a moment too soon as excessive heat rolls in to the Phoenix-area. Major John Brackenbury says the four stations are equipped with not only bottled water, but also hats, sunscreen and lip balm to anyone caught exposed to the harsh

elements.  Brackenbury spent his Tuesday morning handing out water at a hydration station at 3rd Avenue and Fillmore, an area of Downtown Phoenix he says has its share of foot traffic from ASU students to seniors and homeless people. “These stations are critical for individuals within those communities, to keep those people hydrated, to keep them safe.

Brackenbury says you can drop off donated bottled water at any Safeway store. And if you’d like to volunteer, go to Salvation Army Phoenix-dot-org, click on “Volunteer” and go to the link that says “Hydration station.”
