The underbelly of the methamphetamine subculture in Bullhead City is being exposed at a murder trial underway at the Mohave County Courthouse in Kingman. Prosecutor Megan McCoy introduced a cast of characters she says use and deal drugs in the community as she detailed for the jury events that led to the murder of Ray Sanchez four years ago.
The 37-year-old was stabbed 84 times for erroneous suspicion that he stole a pound of meth from a woman who is serving a 22-year prison sentence for the Sanchez homicide and drug-related convictions. The woman’s friend, Chase Salveson,44, is charged with first degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
Defense attorney Virgina Crews told the jury the state can’t prove its case. The trial will continue late into next week.
