Mohave County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Units were deployed two times on Sunday (12/20) afternoon to assist other agencies.
Sunday (12/20) afternoon, at about 3:10 p.m., SAR technical rope team was called out by the National Park Service in the Black Canyon area off of Highway 93 near milepost 4. Apparently a middle aged woman was hiking in the area of the Hot Springs and fell and broke her hip. Due to the tough and steep terrain SAR members were going to be rappelled to the victim, put her in a basket and short haul her to safety with the assistance of the Kingman Ranger, Department of Public Safety helicopter. As SAR members arrived, they learned that NPS personnel located the victim and determined a medical helicopter could land nearby as the terrain wasn’t as bad as they expected. Therefore, Guardian Air landed and NPS personnel along with SAR members hauled the victim to the helicopter. The victim was airlifted to a medical facility in Las Vegas, Nevada.
As SAR members were traveling back to Kingman, they were called out by the Lake Havasu Police Department regarding a missing person of Lake Havasu City. While the SAR members were unloading equipment at the Sheriff’s Office in Kingman, they were informed that the missing person was located.
