On February 12, 2015, at approximately 1:19 p.m., detectives from the Lake Havasu City Police Department’s Special Investigations Bureau, which is part of the Mohave Area General Narcotics Enforcement Team (MAGNET) with the assistance of the SWAT team and detectives from the Criminal Investigations Bureau and the Street Crimes Unit, served a drug-related search warrant at a residence in the 2800 Block of Kiowa Avenue North. The search warrant was a result of an ongoing drug investigation. Detectives located and seized approximately 2.1 pounds of methamphetamine (street value of $100,000) and $8,779.00 in cash. In addition, detectives seized a 2012 Dodge truck and a 2005 Dodge truck. Detectives from the Special Investigations Bureau served an additional search warrant on the 2005 Dodge truck on February 13, 2015 at approximately 11:52 a.m. Detectives located an AR-15 rifle along with approximately 4,000 rounds of ammunition hidden in the door panels. Arrested during the search warrant were 26-year-old Adrian Guzman and 33-year-old Carmen Guzman, both Lake Havasu City residents. Adrian was charged with possession of dangerous drugs for sale, possession of drug paraphernalia, and misconduct involving weapons. Carmen was charged with possession of dangerous drugs for sale and possession of drug paraphernalia. Adrian and Carmen were additionally charged with child abuse after the methamphetamine found inside the residence was located in a common area that their two small children had access to. A two year old female and three year old male were also left unattended at the residence when Adrian walked across the street to engage in a drug transaction. Child Protective Services was notified and both children were turned over to a family member. Adrian was held on a $100,000 cash only bond, while Carmen was held on a $25,000 bond, at their initial appearances, and both were transferred to the custody of the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.
