The Arizona mom who left her children alone in a hot car last year changes her plea to guilty. Shanesha Taylor entered the plea Monday in Maricopa County Superior Court, almost one year the day after leaving her children alone in an overheated car to go to a job interview on March 20, 2014.
It wasn’t until last week that Taylor decided on to plead guilty to the charges, which were reinstated after failing a plea deal to set up a trust fund for her children from 114 thousand dollars of online donations. That money started pouring into an account set up for Taylor after a woman, moved by Taylor’s story of choosing between no day care and jumping on a job opportunity, garnered world wide support for the financially struggling mother.
Sentencing is set for May 15th before Commissioner Jeffrey Reuter. The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office says, at the minimum, she could be sentenced to ten years of supervised probation.
