The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office is trying to make sense of a triple homicide at a Queen Creek home late Monday night. Sheriff Joe Arpaio says, several calls came in about a suspicious vehicle at the two story home at 11732 Prescott Place. One 9-1-1 call noted a vehicle backed up to the
house, with a hose attached to the exhaust pipe and the end of that hose placed through the home’s window.
Arpaio points out detectives could not just walk into the carbon monoxide ridden home, so they had to don protective gear to get inside the two story house. Once inside, they found 45 year old Lisa Gerhart dead upstairs, her 12 year old daughter and 17 year old son dead downstairs. The Sheriff says each had been shot once by a handgun. Although Arpaio says it appears to be a murder-suicide at the mother’s hands, he does not want to divulge too much because there’s also a possibility someone else may have wiped out the family.
Gerhart is separated from her husband, who’s the father of the two kids. The Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office is conducting autopsies on all three to determine the exact cause of death.
