A Maricopa County Sheriff’s Deputy leaves the hospital Monday afternoon amid a round of applause from colleagues. 39 year old Brian Wisda’s went through a gauntlet of colleagues, shaking hands and getting hugs as he was wheel chaired out of Honor Health Scottsdale Osborn Medical Center, two days after getting shot in an ambush
during a traffic stop overnight Saturday morning. When someone asked him how he was doing , he gave a thumbs up.
As Wisda recovers at home, Sheriff Joe Arpaio is guarded about investigation details, saying only Wisda was shot numerous times during a traffic stop by a passing driver. The gunman is still at large. He’s certain someone knows who did this, and chances are, he says, a fellow criminal would be stupid enough to blab all they know.
The Sheriff announces a 20-thousand dollar reward is up for information leading to a suspect. Arpaio says the person funding it is a “close personal friend” but won’t reveal their identity.
Wisda is a two year veteran with M-C-S-O, beginning his career as an armed posse member, then moving up to a Reserve before being promoted to Deputy. He’s married with children.
