An odd sequence of sex offense events involving siblings in Colorado City more than a decade ago has led to punishment through a plea agreement for a man currently residing in Payson. The case began unfolding about three years ago when authorities were investigating alleged sexual activity involving a 14-year-old boy and his 11-year-old sister.
Those siblings alleged that they were improperly touched by an older brother in Colorado City in 2002 or 2003. Authorities said John Johnson was between the age of 14 and 16 when he allegedly touched his much younger siblings.
Johnson, now 27, was charged in 2012 with sexual conduct with a minor and child molestation. He pled guilty to attempted child molestation and attended his October 13 sentencing hearing before Mohave County Superior Court Judge Steve Conn.
Conn noted that Johnson was a minor at the time of the alleged crimes, and that the activity was on the very low end of the sexual offense scale. Conn placed Johnson on supervised probation for ten years and decided not to impose any jail time.
Johnson must register as a convicted sex offender and perform 500 hours of community work service.
