The Kingman Police Department, in partnership with the Western Arizona DUI Taskforce, will be out this this weekend to apprehend those who choose to drive while impaired. Kingman Police Department is able to provide enhanced DUI enforcement due to a grant awarded by the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety.
This grant helps to cover the costs associated with enhanced enforcement operations. The DUI details allow officers to be assigned the specific task of locating and arresting drivers suspected of DUI.
The goal of the Western Arizona DUI Taskforce is to provide deterrence to drivers who may choose to drive while impaired by drugs or alcohol. Alcohol is the most well-known substance associated with DUI; however, the Kingman Police Department has noticed a significant increase in DUI arrests due to prescription medications.
It is important for drivers to understand that impairment due to prescribed medication is not just illegal, but just as dangerous and deadly. If arrested for a DUI offense the offender faces jail time, their vehicle will be impounded, their driver’s license suspended, and hefty fines.
